My tip for today is actually a reflection of what I have gotten in the past week. (Sometimes my best motivation is seeing what others can get for little!) So starting off on Saturday I went to Albertsons and this is what I bought:
4 boxes of Macaroni Grill pasta dinners (Originally $5.49 each)
2.5 lb bag of Tyson frozen chicken breasts (Originally $10.00)
Total I paid for all 5 items? $7.32
Total savings? $24.96
This is how it worked- each of the pasta dinners were on sale 2/$7.
Then using an in ad coupon if you bought 2 of them you would get an instant $2 off chicken. Since I bought 4, I used two coupons and got $4 off my chicken total.
And the bag of chicken breasts also had an in ad coupon for $5 off making my bag of Tyson chicken $5.
I used a $1 coupon from my 2/1/09 Smart Source insert- and 3 printable $1 off coupons for the macaroni grill dinners. (You can print 2 of your own here.)
Albertsons is also doubling 4 coupons up to $1 each per visit if you have the coupons from their ad. (On the printed coupons it says no doubling or tripling, but I asked my store directly about that and they said since Albertsons is doubling it, not the manufacturer, it was fine to double. Check with your store though- they might have a different policy.)
Hooray for 4 delicious dinners including the chicken for $7.32. (They really are awesome- I made one for our anniversary dinner three weeks ago- it was that gourmet!)
Also the new Buy Low market that just opened up in Provo is pretty much my favorite thing for produce now. I haven't bought produce in so long because it's the winter and prices are way too crazy high for me to buy any, and I have been spending most of my money on other things anyway. However with this new Buy Low market they have amazingly low produce prices. Here are some of the deals.
Fuji apples (they are sm-md) 3 lbs/$1
Fresh tomatoes 3 lbs./$1
Fresh radishes or green onions 5/$1
Green cabbage 7 lbs./$1
Red potatoes 5 lbs/$1
Yellow onions 7 lbs/$1
Romaine, red, or green leaf lettuce 3/$1
Bosc pears (they were small) 4 lbs./$1
Red, green, gold, or orange bell peppers 2 lbs./$1
Bulk carrots 3 lbs./$1
Naval oranges 4 lbs./$1
Bananas 4 lbs./$1 (I was looking for slightly green ones, but they were all pretty ripe this morning)
Dole classic salad - 12 oz. .99 each
Yoplait Yogurt $.33-- There are printables and newspaper coupons for this too!
10lb potatoes $1.99lb
minola tangelos 2lb/$1
Califlower and Broccoli $.88/l
Pineapple $.77/lb
Jicama 2lb/$1
Seeded Watermelon $.39/lb
Honeydew melon$2
Kiwi 4/$1
Cherries $1.49/lb
Artichoke (4 pack) $1
And yes those Red green gold or orange bell peppers are not just 2 for $1- it's 2 lbs for $1 making it about 5 peppers for $1! These freeze really well too if you cut them in strips, and then you can always have great flavoring for soups, fajitas, breakfast burritos and anything else you put them in.
If you haven't checked out this store- you need to! It's off University Parkway near Shopko and the dollar theatre. It's where the Food 4 Less and Reams used to be. These deals will end Tuesday, or tomorrow, but I'll post the new deals for the store on Wednesday when I get the ad. I'm sure they'll have more that will be worth your time.
One last tip- Walmart price matches other stores if you have the other store's ad with you. I know they have a limit on how far away the store can be for them to match, but if you only have time to go to one store, it can sometimes be helpful just to have all your ads with you, and get it price matched there. The only thing with this though is you're not supposed to use coupons on top of the price matching. I'm not going to lie, walmart is not my favorite store, but they do have an awesome return policy and they have always been great about letting me use coupons.
Happy shopping!
