HOT diaper deal alert!

I'm not going to do a full post on this right now, I'm only going to say- print off the 2 Huggies coupons at coupons.com right this second. (And I mean it right this second!)

One is for Huggies Gentle Care (size newborn-2)$5 off 1 package and Huggies Natural Fit (all the standard sizes) $3 off one package. In the end of this deal, that won't even start until March 8th, you end up paying $1 or $5 for two packs of diapers and a package of wipes. Mmmhmm that's pretty much a screaming hot steal of a deal!

Thanks Julie for alerting me to this deal, and go here for full details. (The coupons don't last forever on printable coupon sites- and with such a high value coupon- this won't last much longer. Good luck!)

Survey company information

Things I have learned in the past 5 months doing surveys.

PROS!
1. You earn a little extra spending cash legitimately! (This is the main reason I do it!)
2. Many of the surveys are fun to do- and I feel like I'm making a difference in products coming out and what's already on the shelves.
3. It helps break up my day by taking 10-20 minutes per survey between Jack's naps and cleaning the house.
4. I sometimes get sent new products to try and give feedback on- and then I get to keep the product, and get compensated for my time!

CONS!
1. You will NOT get rich doing it, and you probably can't even count on it for extra income every month because the company's needs change so much on who and what they need for their surveys.
2. Some survey companies are NOT legitimate- and will just sign you up for spam or more survey companies- you never get into the actual money making surveys.

***Make sure to check with the survey police if a survey company you're going to sign up for is legitimite and people actually receive rewards for doing the surveys. Click on panel directory for a complete list of verified and unverified survey companies***

3. Some companies offer you very little compensation for your time, but you don't realize it because they offer "points". Now some companies do offer good compensation through points which you can redeem at other companies, but always check to see what the dollar value change over would be. For example- if you are offered 500 points to do a survey that takes 10-15 minutes, but you need 5000 points for a $5 gift card- it breaks down to about 50 cents for the survey- this is NOT worth your time!
4. Some companies give tons of surveys to one person- and not to another- so what works for me- might not work for me- and vice versa. For example I am a 24-30 year old woman- and they may want a 30-36 year old male

The companies I found work best for me include

Pinecone Research- $3 for every survey completed. My favorite!
Opinion Outpost- $1.50-$5 for every survey completed, I have earned $40 from here! (They give points, but 15 points translates directly into $1.50 cash)
Valued Opinions- $2-5 for every survey completed
Opinion Place- $1-4 for every survey completed, and an automatic link into their sweepstakes every month for every survey tried to complete. I won a sweepstakes from here from a survey I didn't qualify for, and they automatically entered me in. (I recommend not signing up for companies that only offer sweepstakes entries as their reward though. Often it's not going to be worth your time, but if they automatically enter you- and they were planning on paying you for the completed survey- go for it!)

Pinecone Research is only open for new registration some of the time. To find a link open go here and the site will tell you if it's open for registration right now. As of right now it is open, but that can change very drastically and suddenly.

If you have questions on specific companies you can ask if I tried them out, and I'll let you know my experience. I started out by registering for 20 survey companies, and have narrowed it down to these 4 as consistently giving me worthwhile surveys. There are a few more that give me surveys every once in a while, but these are the main ones that are worthwhile for me.

For those that don't know what the Single Check Rebate (SCR) is- when you purchase items throughout the month that qualify- you sign into their SCR system and enter your receipt number online and they automatically match up the items you bought with the rebates available. Once a month you request a check from them, and they send it out to you. It's that easy! (You can only request one check a month so don't request the check at the beginning of the month when you potentially could get more SCR deals. I request it at the beginning of the next month- and haven't ever had a problem.)

Coats on Amazon

Huge coat sale on Amazon right now. The best part is free shipping on any orders over $25- so you can get

this Anne Klein coat for $35 (originally $175)
AK Anne Klein Women's Single Breasted Swing Coat

Or this Andrew Marc coat for $40.50 (originally $270)

Andrew Marc Women's Single Breasted Coat With Side Tab Enclosure
Here is a link for more coats if you're interested.

Now is the time to buy a coat if you need one for next year. Since my birthday is at the end of the winter- I'm always using birthday money for winter clothes for the next year- since I will not pay $30 for one sweater- but I will pay $3.50 (like i did at the old navy sale last week). The concept of paying for what you need at a huge discount months before you need it, helps save you in the case of the Andrew Marc coat- $240! Incredible- and so worth it- especially if you know you won't be growing more anytime soon.

Mary Kay items at a discount

I do enjoy Mary Kay items. I think it's a high quality product for cheaper than department store prices. However you know me- I don't pay full price for anything- and that's why this site is great! A Touch of Pink sells Mary Kay products at discounted prices. The great thing about this site is if you love an item and they have discontinued it, this site can sometimes have that item for a great price!

Suggestions on signing up for email deals

I know for some people when they hear the word FREE- they think it must be a scam or too good to be true. While there are definitely those things out there- (free $500 gift card for completing this survey, wire this $ to Africa to get $$ back) there are many legitimate things for free as companies just want to get their name out there or get you to go into their store and spend more money once you're there.

That said here are two ideas to keep you protected when getting these deals.

1. It's a good idea when signing up for free things by email to have a dedicated email account specifically for this purpose. Although many of the sites I will send you to promise to not send you extra spam or sell your information to other companies, inevitably this will happen, and then you'll wake up one morning and find 967 messages in your email. (True story for me today.) Actually most of my spam is from figuring out which survey companies to sign up for, which I will post about tomorrow but really- it's a great idea to come up with a dedicated email address for all your freebies. I recommend gmail because of its ease of use, and my favorite word again- it's free!

2. Be careful about what information you give. I put my name on things, but never put my real birthday. Many of the places by law have to make sure you're a certain age and that's why they ask your birthday. Considering I am older than 18 I don't feel bad putting a day within a year of my actual birthday, but no one could ever use this information because it's not 100% true. And of course you would NEVER give out your social security number or credit card number unless you have researched the company thoroughly, and even then I would still be wary. I also don't give my child's name out.

Good luck and happy safe freebies to you!

Huge Swap Meet at Noah's in Lindon

Next Friday, Feb. 27th there is a swap meet style fundraiser at Noah's in Lindon (take the Lindon/Pleasant Grove exit). It's from 10:00-6:00 and there should be a ton of kids clothes and toys and women's clothing. The swap is being held by Mothers Without Borders to bring in money for a school they are building in Zambia for AIDS orphans. There are lots of ways to get involved. The best way is come and shop at the Swap on Friday. You can also donate quality clothes and toys to sell at the Swap Meet and take it to Noah's on Thursday Feb. 26th or during the sale on Friday. This should be a great opportunity to buy cheap clothing and toys and help a great cause.

Here's even more information about it- it looks like a great thing for everyone! (The people donating, buying, and of course the kids in Africa)

Pinching your pennies class

I am teaching a pinching your pennies class on Tuesday March 17th at 7:00. Yes that is St. Patrick's Day- and yes you better wear green to the class or I won't let you in! J/K- but I would like to know if you're interested in coming. The class this time will be in Provo, but possibly if there is enough interest- I could do it in the Salt Lake area- or wherever- I pretty much just love talking about saving money, and helping others save money!

Leave a comment here if you're interested in attending- or send me an email- and we'll hopefully be able to start helping you get tons of free stuff every month- and cut your grocery bill down more than you ever thought possible.

Money saving mom and more

I was talking to my friend today about finding steals- and she suggested a site I had seen once or twice- but she said was awesome for her. So I checked it out again- and I would have to say I agree with her. Money Saving Mom has things on it that aren't on my favorite freebie blogger and spoofee sites. She has good advice and just general great deal sense. (Or should I say "cents"). Check it out if you have a second, or really longer- it's packed with great stuff.

Something I just found from her blog is you can go to the pampers website and play the winter match game for free 3 times a day without using any points! Scroll down to the bottom, and there's a part that says No Purchase Necessary to enter the instant win- and click on the link. I just did it today three times for free and although I didn't win anything- it took 1 minute and was fun to try.

One more person called me today with a blog to check out. It's called a sweet sale and she posts deals she gets at the grocery store- how she does it, and even teaches a class on couponing. Fun to check out- I especially liked how easy it was to read about the Walgreens options you have for free/cheap stuff there this week.

One more- babycheapskate has deals all things baby. So go there if you're looking for the best diaper deals, formula or any other baby need you have.

Kmart Doubles

I just heard about kmart doubling coupons and assumed it would be at the kmarts near me. NOPE! I'm kind of bummed, but it looks like the only kmarts in Utah that are doubling are North Logan, Price, Vernal, and I think Richfield. Outside of Utah there are a lot more, and again you can check your weekly circular, it will have it stated on there if they are doubling, or you can call- 1800- kma-rt4u and ask about your specific store. Well there's always another sale, another day!

Free American Eagle $10 gift card

If you sign up for the American Eagle Eyes Research Panel and qualify and complete their survey- you will get a $10 AE gift card. There are limited spots according to age and demographic so if you don't qualify or complete the survey you don't get the $10. It looks like only middle, high school or college student spots are open- so if you're any of those- try it!

Double coupons at Kmart starting 2/22

I love these double coupon days at Kmart! The last double coupon event there I got 4 boxes of Special K, and 6 packages of Trident gum for $1.00. To check to see if your kmart is participating call 1-866-KMART-4U.

This is a printable $5 off $50 purchase at Kmart you can use. It's for before coupons, so make sure to hand them this coupon first and then your other coupons. There is a limit of 25 coupons per customer per day, which hopefully means everything won't be gone the first day of the sale. Last time they wouldn't double internet coupons -but they do accept them for their regular value- so this is where it can get a little confusing as to if they accept internet coupons or not. Make sure to check with your store's policy. One last thing if the coupon being doubled makes it more than the value of the item- also called overage- it will only take off the amount up the item's price. So the best you can get is free- but hey I'll take it!

This hip2save blogger has already posted some possible double coupon deals, so if you wanted to check out your options go there, and click on the kmart side link.

Free Johnson's buddy bars ***Smith's catalina for even more free bars***

Printable $1 off coupon for any Johnson's buddy product. With the buddy bars being less than $1 at Target, Walmart, and Smiths, you get this item for free. You can print it off twice for two freebies! (You need to download the coupon printer if you haven't printed off a coupon from your computer yet. It's safe and easy- and it will prompt you through it step by step as you try to print the coupon off.)

If you don't have any kids, this can be a great 72 hour kit item. That's actually what I'm getting mine for, especially because they don't expire. I can put it in my buckets and not even think about them again.

***The Smith's Johnson's promo is still going on- and I don't know how much longer it will last, so hurry and try it yourself! But if you buy 3 buddy bars- a catalina will print out when you pay for it for $3 off 3 Johnson baby products- so you could get 3 more buddy bars for free! (Well plus tax) And then you could do it again and again again. I just got 15 for food storage- gotta love being clean for free!***

80% off restaurant.com certificates

This is the time to purchase restaurant.com certificates if you have been thinking about it. Go to restaurant.com and type in your zipcode or state. Find restaurants in your area- and click on the ones you want. Enter code DINE (expires Februrary 28th) when you check out- and 80% off will automatically be taken off the ENTIRE total! $25 certificates for $2- not bad you amazing shopper!

Now here's the problem. Since it's the end of the month many of the best restaurants have reached their limit and are sold out of their certificates. Don't be discouraged! Buy a dinner of the month club pass at this 80% off price. This means you buy a 3, 6, or 12 month pass and every month they send you an email with a new code for a $25 certificate. But depending on which one you sign up for- you also get a FREE restaurant.com certificate with your club purchase. With the 3 month one you get a $10 certificate, with the 6 month you get a $25 certificate, and 12 month a $50 certificate! But see you pay 80% off the price with the code DINE- so for example with the 6 month club you pay $12 for 7 $25 certificates!

Then on March 1st (or the beginning of everymonth) they restock their certificates and- after activating your dinner of the month club- you can use your pre-purchased 80% off certificate to snag a certificate from your favorite restaurant!

Some of my favorites from here include the Boston Gourmet Pizza, Smokehouse Pizza, the Mayan, Spaghetti Mamas and more!

Now- this isn't a straight up $25 certificate- there are certain qualifications for each restaurant- such as you have to purchase at least $35- not including tip or drinks. Or you must purchase 2 entrees. But we found on average we spend $15 total for the certificate, tip, and more food than we normally get at a restaurant. It's a great deal for us to eat out every once in a while.

Now if you want to save even more- you can sign up for Cashbaq, and they will give you 25% of your purchase at restaurant.com back. That's the best I have seen from all these different cash back websites for restaurant.com- and as a new customer they will give you $5 for joining.

My other favorite thing from Cashbaq is the Happenings books- they give you $10 back for purchasing them! Considering many of the books are now $15 with free shipping, the $5 sign on bonus- $10 back- FREE HAPPENINGS books! Could we get any happier?

Homemade croutons

Not quite a deals post- but something delicious that is super cheap! If you have bread that is starting to get a little hard- or just some really cheap bread- you can make your own croutons that are healthier and way more delicious than what you can get at the store.

This isn't going to be an exact recipe- just general instructions and you can play around with it.

Cut bread into 1-2 inch squares. Put on a cookie pan- cover with olive oil or vegetable oil. Sprinkle with desired seasonings- I put garlic powder on mine- you can also do ranch seasoning or parmesean. Mix it up with a spatula and put it in the oven at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. When they are hard and dry all the way through they are ready. Store in an airtight container.

I made some of these last week- and I think I had salad everyday with them! Delicious. Try some today!

Albertsons shopping trip 2/18

Hooray for fruit snacks cake mixes and biscuits! (Remember go here for the sale details)

  • I got 14 boxes of gushers/fruit snacks/fruit roll-ups (Don't worry they will last us maybe 2 weeks)
  • 9 Pillsbury grand biscuits (they freeze)
  • 10 cake mixes
  • 1 pillsbury orange danish roll pack
  • 1 frosting
  • 4 Betty Crocker warm delights individual packs
Total retail? $107
I paid? $7.11

Well...

technically they paid me $2.89- because I also got a $10 OYNSO (On Your Next Shopping Order) catalina (remember the printable coupons that spit out of the machine when you buy stuff) that I can use on anything next time I go in to Albertsons.

4 transactions of 10 items each. I love coupon shopping.

The best part is on one of the transactions I paid 2 pennies for my 10 items and the cashier had to approve it because there were only self checkout stands open- and she wasn't paying attention until she looked at the screen needing approval then loudly said "holy cow- you paid 2 cents for all those groceries?" Then the person behind me in line said "And people wonder why we coupon shop" :)

Another quick tutorial for those just starting. Albertson's sale is if you buy 10 participating items a catalina will print out for $10 off your next shopping order (OYNSO)- so technically it's $1 off per item

Here are some things you could get
  • Betty Crocker (BC) cake mixes- on sale $1.25- it's like you pay 25 cents each
  • Pillsbury Grands Biscuits- on sale $1.25- it's like you pay 25 cents each (unless you have a coupon for 50 cents off 2 printable here and here then it's like you get it for FREE!)
  • BC fruit snacks/gushers/ etc- on sale $2 a box- it's like you pay $1 each (Unless you have a 75 cents of 2 coupon printable here, here, and here.) Then if you buy 5 in one transaction you get an additional $3.50 catalina OYNSO that prints off- so it's like you pay 5 cents a box
  • BC frosting- on sale $1.67- it's like you pay 67 cents each- unless you have a 50 cents off coupon- then it's like you pay 17 cents each.
Those are all the deals that I wanted this time but let me know how your experience goes, and any other great deals! If you're new to this, I can walk you through it- and I would suggest starting small. Maybe 2 transactions of 10 items each- so you can learn how to roll your $10 over once- but it won't be too overwhelming. Try to not do more than 3 or 4 transactions in one line though. If you have more than this- just do 4 transactions then take your stuff to the back of the line to let people go ahead of you. It's just rude to do more than that at one time. (They even took that away from the Spanish Fork Albertsons' shoppers. Now they can't do more than 1 transaction in a line- because people were doing like 20 transactions at once.) DON'T RUIN IT FOR THE REST OF US!!!!!!

Just a little heads up too. Usually you can print each coupon twice on your computer. The Grands biscuits might be tricky to find at the stores now- they were out of them by the time I left my 500 West Albies store in Provo today- the day the sale started at 7 AM. There were plenty of fruit snacks, but I don't know how long those pallets will last at technically 5 cents a box.

Here's the last problem when they do these buy 10 get $10 off your next purchase sales- you can't really get rainchecks for these items when they're out. Yes, technically they still will give you a raincheck- but the catalinas for the sale items won't print once the sale is over- so if the items are out- just wait for another sale. There will always be another sale another day.

O.k. Just kidding one last thing- if they're out of an item at Albies- and you actually do want a raincheck for the item before the last day of the sale (Tue) they sometimes won't give it to you.

Here's why

They are doing this because 4 weeks ago they bought the food at a huge discount trying to gage how much you as a consumer will buy- by you requesting a raincheck it costs them much more money to buy it the second time. Also if they have a shipment of food coming in on Saturday that they got at that discount, a lot of people get rainchecks to get it later- and they don't sell that shipment that they purchased weeks ago- and it's sitting in the back of their store- they just lost a lot of money.

However! They want to make you happy- so if you really can't find a pretty easy way to get back to the store when another shipment comes in (on Saturday morning, or Monday morning for Albertsons)- just ask for a manager or the person above the person you're asking- and they should issue you a raincheck to make you happy. If they don't- smile and say well there's always another store and sale- and choose a different Albertsons to give your business to.

Whew! I hope you're not all wiped out after reading this, I think I'm going to go do some Cardio Dance Aerobics. Here's to sweatin off the fruit snacks!

Albertsons 2/18-2/24

Awesome sale at Albies this week- but I do fear it may get picked over fast. With fruit snacks being 5 cents a box, nature valley granola bars 30 cents a box, and betty crocker cake mixes 25 cents- I don't know how they'll be able to keep up with the demand. (The fruit snacks and granola bar prices are being factored in with catalinas that print when you buy 3,4, 5, or more) Check it out!
