Albertsons and Smiths shopping trip!

Yesterday was a crazy day- and I only had time to put my groceries away- so I didn't take a picture of them. But here is what I got.

Smiths- double coupon event (this ends TONIGHT!)

2 lbs Challenge butter
2- 4 packs Dannon Yogurt
4 Cover Girl Eye Shadow
1 French's mustard
4 cans of Dole pineapple
3 bottles of Ken's dressing
2 packages of Ronzoni Bistro meals
4 lbs of cheese
3 sticks of Secret deodorant
1 16 oz container of cottage cheese
2 packages of Deli meat
1 box Pringles Stix

I would have spent $75.36

But after coupons and sales I spent $16.07

That's a savings of 79%!

And then at Albertsons I purchased

8 bottles of Wishbone salad dressing
4 bags of salad (my salad dressing had hanging coupons that if you bought two Wishbone products you could get 1 free bag of salad up to $2- there were still some in an end cap display across from the dairy isle at the Center Street store)
4 Knorr Pasta Sides
4 boxes of Kix cereal
3 boxes of Honey Nut cheerios
2 bottles of Mayonnaise

I would have spent $62.72

and I spent $18.22- but got back a $15 catalina good on my next purchases at Albertsons- which means I really spent $3.22!

And without factoring in my catalina I saved 71%!

Now some of you probably are thinking- how in the world does she make meals out of all this random stuff? That is not a normal grocery shopping list. And it's true. It isn't. But I buy things when they are the cheapest most rock bottom price and as much of it as I can. Then I do the same thing the next week, I just buy different items. So now when I need to make dinner I can go to my pantry and shop there- rather than at the grocery store at full prices. Love it! I might go hit the Albertsons sale again this week, but for right now I need a little shopping rest. :)

I do have to say though the Albertsons on Center Street in Provo was AMAZINGLY stocked, and even the Smiths was! I was happy that the store managers prepared for these sales and really made an effort to keep the major sale items available. I think I'm going to call their corporate offices to let them know how great I think they both did.

Awesome Smith's sale starting Wednesday!

Finally! Smiths is having a sale worth talking about! Check out the preview here. (This preview will only be available until midnight tonight, and then you can log onto the current grocerysmarts list at that time.)

Milk is $1.50
Keebler cookies go down to $.50
Sobe Lifewater 2/.39
2 liter 7-up and Coke for .69

I'm all about it! Maceys is also having a more decent sale as well. You can check out their preview here too. Albertsons is having an o.k. sale, and with the double coupons that were in the Red Plum insert this week, you can probably snag a good deal or two.

Thanks PYP for the lists!

Smiths in American Fork 20% off EVERYTHING!

The Smiths in American Fork is closing- so EVERYTHING in the store is 20% off, plus the normal Smiths sales that are going on right now! But once something is gone, it's gone- so hurry in to get the best deals! I hear there aren't very many diapers left, but there are lots of other items still. They possibly might even get to 40% off inventory before the official close date on July 25th. If you're close though, this could be an awesome time to use your regular and ecoupons, and get 20% off your total on top of that!

Stocking discussion

Anna asked me this last week:

"Could you do a post on when stores get their deliveries? For example I only go to Walgreens about once a month, but I'd like to make that trip on the right day/time of day so that I can hopefully get there before they are out of stock on all the good stuff."

First off - way to find a solution to fit your lifestyle and still take advantage of the deals! You don't need to be going to the store every day or really every week to still get some great savings at many of these stores.

Next these are the delivery days for stores around my house. You might need to check to see when your store does deliveries.

Albertsons
560 W. Center St.- Their big shipment is on Wednesday. They also get a shipment on Friday that is out by Saturday morning, and one more smaller one on Monday.

2255 University Parkway- Same as the center street store- their biggest shipment is Tuesday night that's out by Wednesday morning, another shipment Friday night that's out by Saturday morning and one more on Sunday that's out by Monday morning.

Smiths
350 N Freedom Blvd- Sunday night they get a shipment and it's out Monday morning. Tuesday night a shipment that's out Wednesday, Thursday night a shipment that's out by Friday, and Friday night a shipment that's out by Saturday morning.

Walgreens
Now Walgreens is the tricky one because they change their restocking days every few weeks. I have no idea why, maybe to spice up their life and make it more interesting, but ALL Walgreens do this in Utah at least, so you'll just have to keep current on which Walgreens you want to know about specifically. They also tend to change their restocking days around major holidays, if that helps you at all.

So these restocking days are as of TODAY, APRIL 17th, 2009
Provo- restocks on Saturday (but they said this would change mid-May to Tuesday)
Orem 800 S. State St.- Wednesdays
Orem 800 N. State St.- Thursdays

You also might want to check to see what approximate times they get their shipments in. If they get it in the afternoon, you might want to be there an hour after it shows up for the best chance of snagging those hard to get deals.

If there is something I REALLY want at Walgreens, I just try to get there early Monday morning. It usually isn't gone by then if it just went on sale the past Sunday, and I don't have to wait to see if a new shipment brought in that specific item.

I hope that helps!

Smiths caselot!

***Update*** There is a printable coupon for .50/2 cans of Libby's vegetables. Remember to push your browser back to print two! This makes 4 cans .25 each! That's a steal of a deal!***

Smiths is having their caselot sale this week! And it's much better than the Associated foods caselot from a few weeks ago. Here are some deals worth noting. (each price is how much a can of it would cost.)

Kroger condensed cream soups - .50
Kroger tomato sauce- .20 (I bought them last year for .15 each, but this is still a great deal)
Kroger tomato paste- .33- this is how much I bought a case of it for last year.
Kroger tuna 5 oz- .50
Kroger Pork and beans- .33
Kroger mandarin oranges- .33
Libby's canned vegetables- .50 (they were .59 at the Associated food western family caselot price)
Skippy Peanut butter- $1.25 with Skippy Peanut Butter Products, any 15 oz. or larger .75/2 (4-12-09) RP-1/18 - .88 with coupon!

And some other deals: Kroger Hotdog or Hamburger buns- .88
Schreiber shredded cheddar jack cheese 5 lbs- $7.99! (This is a GREAT DEAL!)

Also as a reminder Albertsons has their Post sale going on for the rest of the week, you can read more about how to get a box of cereal for .24 here.
And their Green Giant Steamers are on sale for $1, but you can use these printable coupons for .60/1 at the Better Crocker site or .60/1 at the Pillsbury site to make them .40 each- this is a GREAT deal! (I love frozen veggies. They keep for so long, and work so great in all of my dinners. Definitely something I am constantly on the look out for with sales.)

Johnsons Buddy bars at Smiths!

I have been hearing lots of different things regarding the Smiths catalina promo where you buy 3 Johnsons products and you get a catalina for $3/3 more Johnson products. Since the buddy bars are .97 this means an unlimited amount of johnson buddy bars for you with these coupons and catalinas!

(Although I know you guys are aware of others and you don't clear out an entire shelf in one visit right?)

Anyway I have heard from my friend Joy that the promo is STILL going on. She just bought more on Saturday and it printed out another $3/3 coupon, and other people that it printed out a $2.50/3 coupon, and others that it just stopped working.

You might as well try it yourself to see which catalina spits out for you! Use these printable coupons for some free buddy bars to try it yourself, or just go pick some up at Target or Walmart, they are around .97 at these stores.

Grocery deals!

You can check out the PYP grocery smarts lists for Smiths and Albies yourself, but here are a few deals I'm grabbing that aren't posted there, and you can snag if you signed up for and received the Eat Better America, Betty Crocker and Pillsbury coupon/recipe books, and print off a few more things yourself.

Albies - Kellogs cereal deal!
Buy 3 cereals get 1 gallon free milk!
Buy 5 cereals get 2 gallons free milk!
Buy 7 cereals get 3 gallons free milk!
((The free milk comes in the form of a catalina that will print out at the register once you pay for your items.)

Use 3 Kellogg’s Cereal, any flavor 10 oz. or larger .70/1 (4-5-09) RP-2/22
Leaving you with 3 boxes of cereal plus a free gallon of milk for just under $3- awesome!

(Be careful though to get the cereal that is 3 for $5- the other Kelloggs cereal will trigger the catalina- but $2.50 or more for a box of cereal? Not a good deal, even with the free milk.)

Smiths : Here comes the fun! (This is where I'll be this week!)

Pillsbury Refrigerated Pizza Crust or Grands Biscuits are on sale $1.25
When you buy 4 $1 automatically comes off your total. (That's why Smith's sales are SO easy!)
Use 3 Pillsbury Italian Meal Breads, any .40/1 (4-18-09) SS-1/25 (The pizza crust is in the picture, so these count!)
Use 1 Pillsbury Italian Meal Beads, any $1/1 from the Eat Better America booklet
Final price? $1.80 for 4, which makes them $.45 each! These are delicious by the way!

Cow Pals string cheese- on sale for $3.99- but many people have been finding them for $2.99 even better! For a pack of 24, this makes them 8/$1

Whopper's Robin Eggs or Jolly Rancher Jelly Beans Easter candy on sale for $1.50 PLUS get $1 off a dozen eggs when you buy (WYB) 3 in one transaction. (Up to $2 off, which means since eggs are on sale this week for $1 you can get two dozen for free!)
Get three bags of Robin Eggs and a carton of eggs
Use $1.50 off 3 bags of Hershey candy printable here
Total for 3 bags of Easter candy and one dozen eggs-$3!
(update! This is a correction from what I posted earlier, still a great deal!)

The Trop50 was included with the Tropicana sale, at $2.39 this morning. There is a $1/1 printable here, making it $1.39 for 64 oz- which is definitely a 5 star price. They also have Kroger half gallon of OJ for $1 if you wanted to stock up on more OJ this week.

Kroger 10 oz tortilla chips for $1- my husband wanted me to put that, because he likes chips, and that's a pretty good price.

Green Giant Big Sauce Vegetables 12-24 oz are on sale for $1.99
Use the $1/1 Green Giant Vegetables 19-24 oz size coupon found in the Eat Better America booklet, making them $1 for a lot of veggies.

They also have a Quaker sale going on if you need some more oatmeal or life cereal for about $1 a box after buying 4 and getting $4 off instantly and with coupons.

Now don't beat yourself up if you didn't know there were even coupon/recipe booklets out there. Here's your chance to get at least two of these $10 coupon booklets for free! They're awesome, and I have gotten some free or almost free items with these, including frozen veggies, cereal, biscuits and yummy treats. You should receive them in the mail in the next few weeks after signing up.

***UPDATE*** It looks like both of these booklets are out of stock. You can still sign up for the better crocker dinner made easy group though, and get free printable groceries and recipes sent to your email!***

I normally don't get frozen pizzas- but it was a great price ($2.99 after coupons and megaevent promo) and my friend Julie (You're the best!) hooked me up with a buy $30 worth of Freschetta pizza get $7.50 back beer rebate. I'll talk more about beer rebates later this week- but pretty much I'm getting some dirt cheap pizzas after I submit my receipts. And my husband is one happy man this week! I need to go back and get some more pizzas, and their pasta is .50 too. What are you guys getting?

Grocerysmarts lists

Here is the biggest secret I have that I hope you share with everyone you know! I first got this through pinching your pennies but you can go straight to here if you want and select what store you want to shop at. They even have places like Walgreens and Walmart- not normal grocery stores. (Again sorry non-Utah friends- these are the Utah lists only.)

To start you select a store- and for the purposes of this tutorial select Smiths. Once on the Smiths page notice on the left column the items on sale also have stars next to them. The more stars they have the better deal it is. If it's a 4 or 5 star price they will also bold it in red for you. I LOVE this because if you haven't bought something for awhile- or if you're just starting out being price conscious and trying to get the best deal- this can let you know if that item on sale is a good great or hot price. So if you notice the Anjou bosc or red pears are a $1.49 lb. A three star price. Not really good, but not really bad either. However the blueberries are $1.00 for 6 oz- a super hot price if you buy them tomorrow between 3 and 11.

So on the left side is the ad items- in the right column this will list any coupons, printables or newspaper ones, promos or extra deals that might be going on with that item from ANYWHERE! This means if there's a coupon out there it will have it linked to this ad right now for you. Also the price in the left column is the sale price, while the price in the right column is the sale after coupons or other promos price. So obviously the best prices will be on the right side.

Have fun exploring this site, and I'll add a few more details to this later.
