March receipt totals in and GIVEAWAY!

I have had a few people ask me how much I save in a given month using coupons with sales. I usually have my set budget and try to stay under that, so I haven't really paid attention to how much I was saving, just how much I was spending. I decided to add up all my receipts just for fun to see where my totals were, and to see how much my time was worth doing this.

Total I would have spent paying full prices? Are you ready for it?

$605.34

Total I spent out of pocket

$128.14

That's a savings of 78%!
or $477.20

These are ALL my receipt totals, including produce, milk, eggs, cheese, meat, cereal, bread, diapers, deodorant, shampoo, printer paper etc. I also had $20 of two receipts from Smiths that I sent in for beer rebates- I saved at least 70% on those receipts, but I can't remember exactly so I'm not including those totals here.
The rest of my budget included a doctors visit and prescription for my little boy's ear infection, a car knob repair, eating out three times and a few other things like that so my total budget out of pocket this month was $200

I don't know about you, but $477.20 is definitely motivation for me to keep spending time on this. Even if I spent 4 hours a week planning my lists and going to stores that is 16 hours a month- which translates to 29.82 an hour! I definitely don't know of a part time job I can make $29 an hour that I can spend time doing it whenever I want and as much or as little as I want.

I spend more than 4 hours a week finding deals, but that is because I want to tell you about all the great deals I find too! I get so excited about getting a deal and telling others about it, and this is the best way to get the word out.

I love hearing from you guys and would love to reward you for this too, so I'm doing a GIVEAWAY!!! Hooray for more free things!

I am giving away 10 baseball card sheet protectors to start your own coupon binder and organize your loose coupons in, OR if you don't want that I can give you 10 high value coupons you could use with a sale to get some super cheap or free things. (I think the not knowing what the coupons will be for makes it more exciting! But I promise they will be good.)
Cool huh? Your coupons will fit so organizedly in these 10 pages.

Or 10 of these babies to score you some cheap stuff!

To get an entry into this coupon crazy drawing you need to leave a comment here about how something on this site has helped you get a steal of a deal!

If you want another entry into this drawing tell others about A Steal of a Deal on your own blog, and then leave a comment telling me about it. (Make sure your name matches up to your blog, I am excited to read about it!) Sometimes people just don't know there are resources like this to help them make the most of their money. Or if you don't have a blog, tell others about it on Facebook or some other technological way, and let me know how you're spreading the stealing a deal love!

And finally if you want one more entry, leave a separate comment telling me something you would like me to talk about in a future post, or some other thing you would like to tell me about the site itself to help the general ease of use, or feel of it. (such as- you use exclamation points way! too! much!! I know I do, but that is something I can't stop, they just come out of me because I'm so excited about deals! even when I try to use a period!)

I will choose a winner at random on Monday morning April 6th.

This kind of takes a long time for me to get the word out about all my deals, and all in all I just want to know if my time, energy and efforts are really useful to people. Even if you don't want the prize, let me know how you have been affected by these deals and then if you win give your prize to your sister. Thanks!

  1. I'm usually good at finding all the lowest prices at grocery stores and use coupons as much as I can, as long as it's for items I need rather than things that will only sit on my shelf or do my body more harm than good (junk food), but your site is so helpful to me for finding great deals on other items than just groceries. I was so excited to find 10 pair of sunglasses for $9.99 ($15.98 with shipping) a couple weeks ago. I have the hardest time finding a good price on sunglasses and and then keeping them in good condition or from getting lost, that this just really excited me! Hooray! I'm also going to be scouring that old navy weekly site tonight for that $75 off $100 coupon! Wow that would just be like hitting the jackpot for my little family of five!.:)I love this blog! Your time is well appreciated friend!

  2. I love your blog and I subscribe to it. The best deal that I've gotten were the Huggies diapers at Walgreens. I got 5 packages of diapers, and 1 package of wipes for a total of about $9.50. It was AWESOME!

  3. I wish that I could come and spend a day with you so everything could sink in better. I am such a hands-on person that i get a little overwhelmed with the whole concept, but I know if I just disciplined myself and made it a priority, I would save a lot of money. I think I need to get back to the basics and would really like to know how to get the best deals on my every-day groceries that I use all the time. You've probably already covered this, but like I said, I am hands on. So, if I haven't gone to the grocery store and followed one of your tips, it doesn't sink in.

  4. Brooke, you are wonderful! And I love your exclamation points! They're the best! I love when you talk me through specifics on your deals so that I can rip you off and copy what you do so that I don't have to do any thinking of my own.

  5. I live in Provo and I like that you cover deals in my back yard. Most of the other money saving sites are all over the rest of the country, which is fine for the most part, but sometimes the deals aren't the same everywhere. It's great to have a set of eyes and ears open right here. Then I know that when I head to Albertson's to get Taco Shells, or Walgreens for diapers that the deals are working there because you've had success. I am new to this whole uber-crazy coupon shopping thing and I like that you walk through your coupon shopping step by step so that I know exactly what to do when I get to the register. I appreciate the time that you put into this blog - I check it every day and it's helped my family out a lot. Thanks!

  6. Oh, and I don't know if this gets me an extra entry in the giveaway or not, but a little while ago I posted a link to your blog on my blog under my favorite money saving sites. My blog is: fredandamber.blogspot.com. Check it out :)

  7. I am so glad my friend Leslie told me about your blog. I went to Albertson's and ONLY bought sale items. If I had paid total price it would have been 114.00 That is crazy but I came out ONLY paying 49.00 yes that is right. I know it isn't much but is sure got me going. Also learning how to shop smart helps me to budget my monthly grocery spending. Thank you for your ideas. I look forward to them.

  9. Oh yeah! I put your link on my blog! I really want those baseball card holders, darn it, especially after that huge-o Sunday paper. Springville Wally's are out of them. Did I mention how beautiful and talented you are? What poise you have? How children everywhere love you? How everyone everywhere loves you? (are my chances improving?)
